After the popularity (apart from with Alan Forsyth) of Chris Grassick’s Quickfire Questions at the start of the week, I thought it was time to give you, the hockey family another installment of cutting edge insight into the top players in the hockey world. So, without further ado, here is what East Grinstead and Great Britain defender Iain Lewers had to say:
The Top of the D: What is your biggest achievement?
Iain Lewers: Walking out to be part of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics.
The Top of the D: What is your prized possession?
Iain Lewers: At the minute, probably my mobile phone.
The Top of the D: Who is your celebrity crush?
Iain Lewers: Hmm. Celebrity crush. Not really a crush, but I have a lot of admiration for David Beckham, does that count?!
The Top of the D: Which three people, past or present would you invite to a dinner party?
Iain Lewers: Bill Clinton, George Best and it’d have to be Beckham again.
The Top of the D: Who is the best player you’ve ever played with or against?
Iain Lewers: Against would be Jamie Dwyer. With is probably Bram Lomans.
The Top of the D: I’ll give you that. Not too shabby!
The Top of the D: What is your hidden talent?
Iain Lewers: [Asks David Condon] Any ideas?! [Silence] I like golf so I’ll say that.
The Top of the D: If you were on a game show, and needed a phone-a-friend from someone in the hockey world, who would it be?
Iain Lewers: I’d probably phone Barry Middleton.
The Top of the D: Who would it not be?
Iain Lewers: Probably my girlfriend. (GB Player Georgie Twigg.)
The Top of the D: Why do you love hockey?
Iain Lewers: It’s given me a lot in life. A lot of good, long lasting friendships that have continued long after playing for the same club. It’s brought me a lot of highs and a lot of lows. It’s been responsible for giving me a very rounded life experience.
Once again, The Top of the D brings you a little more information on the top players. Really useful and insightful stuff, I’m sure you’d agree. If you have a question you would like me to ask, or a player you would like to see featured, why not get in touch via Twitter, contacting @TheTopoftheD.
The Top of the D would like to thank Iain Lewers for his time, patience and good humour when answering the quickfire questions.
