Dixon left to rue missed chances in Argentina defeat
Great Britain captain Adam Dixon was left ruing his side’s missed chances after a late comeback wasn’t quite enough to salvage an entertaining match against Argentina in London.
Despite creating plenty of chances, Great Britain trailed 3-0 to strikes from Martin Ferreiro, Ignacio Ortiz and Maico Casella going into the closing stages. GB clawed goals back from Sam Ward and Alan Forsyth and forced a last second-save from Argentina goalkeeper Juan Manuel Vivaldi but ultimately ran out of time and slipped to their second defeat of the FIH Pro League. Great Britain missed out on a bonus point in the FIH Pro League after losing 2-1 in a shootout with Argentina after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Agustina Albetarrio’s scrambled goal eight minutes from time looked like it would settle a close-fought encounter but Owsley’s goal just four minutes later ensured a point apiece and took the match to a shootout, which Argentina edged, 2-1. Continue reading
