Euro Hockey League Round 1.2: A look back.
You’d think after three days solid of nothing but hockey, The Top of the D would be fed up with Round 1.2 of the Euro Hockey League. You’d be wrong. Euro Hockey League Round 1.2: Waterloo Ducks 2-1 East Grinstead.
Waterloo Ducks secured top spot in the group with a hard-fought win over hosts East Grinstead in the last game of the weekend.
In front of a big crowd, a particularly noisy section supporting the Belgians, Wat Ducks earned their win with goals from Tanguy Cosyns and Alastair Brogdon, whilst Rick Gay’s penalty corner proved to be in vain. Continue reading
Euro Hockey League Round 1.2: HC Bloemendaal 3-0 Lisnagarvey HC.
Lisnagarvey secured a place in the next round with a terrific defensive display here against already qualified HC Bloemendaal. Although the Irish were defeated, they qualified by virtue of their better goal difference ahead of Lille.
The game followed a familiar pattern as Bloemendaal attacked from minute one, whilst Garvey dug in for a long afternoon of defending.
Euro Hockey League Round 1.2: Reading 2-1 St Germain.
Reading sneaked through to the next round after coming out on top in this winner-takes-all encounter with St Germain.
With both sides aware of the high stakes this game had all the drama you would expect, plus a few bad tempered moments as the competition threatened to boil over. Continue reading
