Great Britain made it two wins in two days against Germany as they ran out 3-1 winners in their FIH Pro League match at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. 

Having won 5-3 in yesterday’s match, today’s game was a slightly less explosive encounter but the points went to the hosts once more to move them up the Pro League table to sixth. 

Charlotte Stapenhorst’s late goal earned Germany a 3-2 win in their FIH Pro League match with Great Britain. 

The Germany no12 deceived Maddie Hinch with a bouncing shot three minutes from full time to nudge the visitors in front and condemn Great Britain to defeat.

Great Britain picked up just their second win of their FIH Pro League campaign, seeing off Germany in a goalfest which ended 5-3 in favour of the home side. 

Great Britain goalkeeper Maddie Hinch has opened up about being diagnosed with depression last year, saying she ‘dreaded putting on her pads’ at times.

“It has been tough but I’m glad I have a diagnosis where I know what is going on inside my head” she told the Daily Mail.

“There were honestly times when I dreaded putting on my pads. If you hurt your knee you get help and it should be the same for your head. I wish I had done it years ago.”

Great Britain head coach Danny Kerry has paid tribute to ‘legend’ Ollie Willars after the defender announced he would be stepping away from international hockey with immediate effect.
