And for the first time in a while, the third place playoff would decide which team would take England’s newly-acquired third European slot. Old Georgians exacted revenge for their final defeat by Wimbledon last season by winning this year’s Men’s Super 6s title after a 6-4 win in an absorbing final.

A superb display from Theo Dowse’s East Grinstead side fired them to a 6-1 win over Surbiton and in the process captured the Women’s Super 6s title.
