Two goals from Emily Hurtz saw Australia through to Sunday’s final where they will meet the winner of England vs Argentina. With the scores level at half time it was all to play for, however a stirring second half display gave the Hockeyroos a convincing win.

Investec World League 5th-8th place: USA 3-1 Spain.
USA snatched a well-deserved victory over Spain to secure a clash with Italy in tomorrow’s 5th/6th playoff, whilst Spain will line up against South Africa in the 7th-8th match.
Goals from Paige Selenski, Katie Reinprecht and a stunning strike from Rachel Dawson were enough to give the USA their first win of the competition. Continue reading

Italy stunned South Africa with a penalty shootout win to ensure they will play off for fifth and sixth place, condemning Giles Bonnet’s side to the wooden spoon match tomorrow.
A penalty stroke from Giuliana Ruggieri in the tenth minute had looked like it would give the Azzurri a win in normal time, however a last minute penalty corner from Pietie Coetzee took the game to a shootout, but Italy were not to be denied. Continue reading

England set up a mouth-watering tie with Argentina in Saturday’s semi final as they held off a late charge from underdogs Italy to win 3-2.
