Eurohockey Championships Women’s Final: England 4-4 Germany. (0-2 after shootout.)

Germany won the Eurohockey Championships for the second time in their history with a 2-0 shootout win over England after an entertaining 4-4 draw.

Germany scooped the gold medal, a prize they collected in 2007, to leave Jason Lee’s side heartbroken as they couldn’t repeat their semi final heroics here tonight. Continue reading

Eurohockey Championships Men’s Semi Final: England Belgium.

Hosts Belgium will face Germany in Sunday’s Eurohockey Championships Final after a dominant performance saw off England by three goals to nil in tonight’s semi final.

Goals from Thomas Briels, Jerome Truyens and Florent Van Aubel were enough to sink a spirited display from Bobby Crutchley’s side and give the Red Lions their first win over England in this competition since 1970.

Eurohockey Championships, Women’s Semi-Final: England 1-1 Netherlands. (3-2 after shootout.)

Goalkeeper Maddie Hinch was England’s hero as they won a tense shootout competition against the Netherlands to prevent the Dutch reaching the final of this competition for the first time since 1991.

Hinch saved five times in the shootout, including the decisive final effort from Roos Drost to set up a return match with old rivals Germany.  Continue reading

Eurohockey Championships Women’s Pool B: England 2-1 Scotland.

Goals from Hannah Macleod and Samantha Quek gave England a place in the semi-final of this competition but it was far from a comfortable afternoon for Jason Lee’s side. Scotland’s last win over England came in 1993 however with a bit more composure in front of goal, they could easily have broken that sequence in Belgium today.  Continue reading
