Now: Pensions Men’s Championship Play Offs: Preview Part One.
The end of season Championship Play-Offs are almost upon us once again. Last year, Reading edged out East Grinstead with an Andy Watts penalty corner goal after the final whistle. The semi-final line-up promises to serve up a feast of entertaining hockey and plenty of drama at Sonning Lane this weekend. The Top of the D takes a look at the contenders. First up, Reading and Beeston, who face off in first of the semi-finals.
The Top of the D Meets: Darren Cheesman.
Darren Cheesman is a very interesting character. A product of the Arsenal “In the community scheme” his life could easily have taken a wrong turn and ended up very different but for his involvement in hockey. He’s spent a year playing in Holland, scooped the English Premier League Player of the Year in 2008 and scored on his Great Britain debut in 2010. He is by no means finished there, however.
