David Kettle was Surbiton’s hero as the Welsh goalkeeper pulled off two miraculous saves in the shootout to give his side a 3-2 win after Reading and Surbiton played out a 1-1 draw in normal time. Jonty Clarke had given Reading the lead in the first quarter only for Alan Forsyth to cancel the strike out with a penalty stroke in the second quarter. A hat-trick from Captain Peter Flanagan was enough to give Brooklands a 3-1 win over Southgate ensuring they join their opponents in the Premier League next season and in doing so, condemning Sheffield Hallam to relegation.

Two goals apiece from Adam Dixon and Sam Ward fired Beeston past Reading in an entertaining semi-final to set up a mouthwatering clash with East Grinstead in tomorrow’s final. An outstanding display from Matt Taylor’s side denied Reading the time and space to impose themselves on the game and but for a slack final five minutes, the score might have looked more impressive for the Bees.
