Euro Hockey League KO8: Club de Campo 1-4 Club Harvestehuder.

Club Harvestehuder took their place in the final four with a 4-1 over Club de Campo in an entertaining KO8 tie here in Eindhoven. A brace from Johan Bjorkman, a stunning strike from Tobias Brockmann and a controversial penalty corner on full time from Michael Korper saw the German side through to the semi-finals in their first season in the competition.  Continue reading

Euro Hockey League KO16: MHC Oranje Zwart 3-1 Surbiton HC.

Goals from Gabriel Dabanch, Rob Reckers and Mink van der Weerden ensured a safe passage for MHC Oranje Zwart to the KO8 stage as they eliminated Surbiton on a bad day for English Hockey. With Reading HC and Beeston HC falling earlier on in the day it was left to Todd Williams’ side to salvage some pride for their country. Euro Hockey League KO16: Waterloo Ducks 4-3 Beeston HC.

A hat-trick from Sam Ward was not enough as Beeston became the second English side to tumble out of the Euro Hockey League at KO16 stage. The Bees took an early lead from their first attack but the loss of captain Adam Dixon in the second quarter proved to be a real turning point in the match as Waterloo Ducks got their noses in front and held off a late rally. Euro Hockey League KO16: KTHC Rot Weiss Koln 2-2 Racing Club de Bruxelles (2-3 after shootout.)

Jeremy Gucasoff, the shootout specialist came up trumps again as Belgium’s Racing Club de Bruxelles held their nerve to see off much fancied KTHC Rot Weiss Koln in a dramatic shootout. The two sides could not be separated over 70 minutes, playing out a 2-2 draw but Gucasoff, and the extra long stick he uses for the shootout saw off efforts from Mats Grambusch, Moritz Trompertz and Joshua Delarber to give his team the 3-2 win.  Continue reading
