Old Georgians exacted revenge for their final defeat by Wimbledon last season by winning this year’s Men’s Super 6s title after a 6-4 win in an absorbing final.

Georgians saw off Hampstead and Westminster, 5-3 in their semi final whilst Wimbledon beat Sevenoaks 8-2 in theirs.

The final was the Carson show in many ways – all of the OGs goals came from James Carson (three), Tom Carson (2) and Edward Carson as the Surrey outfit scooped the indoor title for the first time.

Wimbledon went in front via Jack Turner and were unlucky not to go further ahead after being denied by a smart stop from George Pinner.

In a frantic spell of action, Duncan Scott picked one off the line, then Pinner blocked from Aki Kaeppeler before Tom Carson broke free and fed James Carson who finished well to make it 1-1. Breathless stuff.

Georgians played some lovely flowing cross-court hockey and were a threat on the fast break throughout. James Bailey was earning his money in the Wimbledon goal with a string of fine saves. Against the run of play, Kaeppeler fired in a penalty corner but seconds later James Carson poached another making it 2-2.

A fine solo effort from Rory Patterson put Wimbledon back in front but it wasn’t long before it was all square again, this time thanks to a goal from Tom Carson.

James Carson completed his hat-trick with a lovely goal, moving down the boards and looping it past the goalkeeper to make it 4-3. 
Pinner had to be alert to keep out an effort from Evan Kimber, but yet again, when it looked like they’d weathered the storm, Jack Turner scored to make it 4-4.

Bailey made an absolutely stunning save to deny Tom Carson and it looked like we were heading for a shootout. However a hectic period of play saw OGs win the ball and Tom Carson popped up in the circle to make it 5-4. There was enough time for Edward Carson to get one to put a sheen on the score and send the title to Old Georgians.
